Natural Area of Ecological, Fauna and Floristic Interest (ZNIEFF)
Classified as a Natural Area of Ecological, Fauna and Floristic Interest (ZNIEFF), the Chavanon Gorge and its tributaries are home to a mixture of Atlantic and mountain flora: among them are Martagon lilies and wild orchids. Also observe the fauna, the spotted coat, did you see it ? It’s the genette, the shy and furtive feline! Wolf pits still exist in the ravines. The fish found here make happy fishermen; brown trout, rainbow and gudgeon!
What nature separates, Man connects
Over 50km long and composed of rocks, rivers and dense forests, the river passes underneath the viaduc of Chavanon : you can overlook this valley from its viewpoint to observe the fauna and flora with the help of an orientation table.
