During the intermission of the Wagnerian opera Tristan and Isolde - the most dramatic of love stories - two performers return to their dressing room to talk... about love. He complains that he's never been able to meet anyone, while she tries to convince him that he can, with music! The Virêvolte ensemble, featuring soprano Aurore Bucher and cellist Jérémie Arcache, embark on a singing tour of disappointed loves, from Lully to Madonna. Their epic for voice and cello dramatizes the rising emotions of love, with playfulness and a sure sense of bouncing from one era to the next. Our attention is drawn as much to the familiar tunes of Western musical heritage - somatic, baroque or popular - as to the libretti, poems and amorous lyrics of Wagner?s exacerbated romanticism and mysticism, the lilting emotions of Nougaro or the unapologetic rock disappointments of Rita Mitsouko.
