Douglaseraie des Farges

Animals friendly

10-hectare state forest. Planted or seeded in 1895, these Douglas firs (Pseudotsuga menziesii) reach heights of over 50 m and a volume of over 15m3. Just before the Dupuy family began clear-cutting in the early 1960s, these sumptuous Douglas-firs occupied a larger area than they do today. (approx. 1.5 ha). Without the determination of a number of foresters and local residents, including Marius Vazeilles, none of these trees would have survived. The ONF stopped the felling and bought back the land in 1962.
