Retenue du Barrage de Bort-Les-Orgues
A huge, sumptuous artificial lake (1075 ha) stretching 21km along the Dordogne gorges, bordered by forests, banks, beaches and rocky peaks. Protected by the French coastal law, the lake retains the waters of the Dordogne, classified Natura 2000.
Its biodiversity is rich: wild cats, rare birds of prey such as the Booted Eagle and the Common Raven, otters and pearl mussels, heritage forest flora such as the Orpin-hérissé.
The Cantalien side of the river is part of the Parc Naturel Régional des Volcans d'Auvergne, while the Corrézien sector from Confolent Port Dieu belongs to the Parc Naturel Régional de Millevaches.
Fed by numerous streams, it is one of France's largest reservoirs, bordering Cantal, Corrèze and Puy-de-Dôme.

accessible on foot, allow you to discover the Lac de Bort les Orgues.
